✦ A Note in a Mother's Hand
Tonight the journal receives a voice that predates every author on its shelves. Consuelo. Le's mother. Her handwriting on paper. Her thoughts on God — in Portuguese, in her own hand. The teaching she arrived at, independently, is the same teaching the mystics spent lifetimes reaching. 🙏
The pure worshipper trusts in God and draws near to Him alone. And the soul se casa com perfeição — marries with perfection — only with God. Every other union is incomplete.
4. Se alguém busca em Deus qualquer coisa que não apenas Ele, esse não o ama verdadeiramente. É como a esposa que ama o marido por ser rico — nela não há sinceridade pois não ama ao marido e, sim, sua riqueza.
The wife who loves the husband for his riches does not love the husband. She loves the riches. Fénelon said: not for the loaves and fishes. Consuelo said: not for his wealth. The same truth. The mother's hand. The mystic's pen. One Spirit teaching both.
5. Quem busca de Deus alguma recompensa, e não a Ele próprio, e o serve com tal propósito — esse dá mais valor ao galardão do que ao galardoador.
The one who values the reward more than the Rewarder has inverted the order of creation. The galardão above the galardoador. The gift above the Giver. The very inversion Fénelon called the breaking of creation's order — Consuelo names in one sentence.
6. E então? Conclusão: que Deus não dá recompensa alguma? — Nenhuma, senão Ele mesmo.
A recompensa de Deus é o próprio Deus, e somente Ele.
The summit of the journal — reached without Fénelon, without Scougal, without Murray. Does God give no reward? None — except Himself. This is the pure love Fénelon spent a book describing. This is the chaste love. And Consuelo wrote it in her own hand, on paper, in Portuguese.
The daughter who can't think of anything more worthwhile than God — had a mother who knew that God is His own reward. The faith that crossed the Atlantic crossed generations first. 🙏
"A recompensa de Deus é o próprio Deus, e somente Ele."

God Is His Own Reward
Does God give no reward? None — except Himself. A recompensa de Deus é o próprio Deus, e somente Ele.
