We look into redemption for mercy, love. Have we felt the fierce, burning heat where holiness touches sin?
Redemption is more than a search — it is a tremendous wrestle of holiness with sin.
Dim holiness, lighten sin, uncrown the Redeemer. If sin be light, the Redeemer was superfluous.
"There was nothing cheap about your redemption. Ye were redeemed with precious blood, even the blood of Christ."
A cheap redemption might have made us feel easy; it would never have made us good.
A lax God could have redeemed cheaply. A cheap redemption would have made us comfortable — never holy. The 500 denari were forgiven at the cost of the Lamb without blemish — foreknown before the foundation of the world. Without the holiness, the whole chain collapses.
In the darkness of Gethsemane and Calvary sin was overthrown and holiness was glorified.
"I never want His cry to go out of my life: 'My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?'"
So long as that cry sounds through my life I can never have a cheap Redeemer.
The Christian's walk is a fine swinging step, born of hope and happy confidence. Not cringing. Not enslaving timidity.
To "pass the time in fear" is to be fearful of sleep, alert against indifference, spiritually awake.
Let the majestic claim inspire you to a spacious ambition: "perfecting holiness in the fear of the Lord."
"If ye call on Him as Father," let the majestic claim inspire you. In the world we have trials and temptations, but He overcomes the world. Call Him your Father and be inspired by His holiness. All things work together for the good of those who love God. Be inspired, not stressed.
After two weeks of girding, sobriety, correction, and the "if" dismissed — Le arrives at the word that gathers it all: be inspired, not stressed. The Holy Spirit has changed the posture — from defense to aspiration. From crouching to standing in the light.
The soul that said "my thinking was wrong" now says "be inspired." The walk becomes what Jowett calls a fine swinging step, born of hope and happy confidence. Not cringing. Not a slave. A child of the holy Father — walking in His likeness.
All things work together. Romans 8:28. The truth held from the beginning. The stress does not define. The inspiration does. Call Him Father. Walk the fine swinging step. Perfect holiness — not in terror, but in the fear of the Lord.
"Call Him your Father and be inspired by His holiness. All things work together for good. Be inspired, not stressed."
Le's Heart · Caldas da Rainha · Day sixty-three · Jowett · 1 Peter 1:17–19Not a Cheap Redemption
Dim holiness, lighten sin, uncrown the Redeemer. The blood of Christ was the cost. Nothing cheap about it.
The Cry That Sustains
"My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" Let that cry never leave. It keeps the grace costly and the gratitude real.
The Fine Swinging Step
Not cringing, not paralyzed. Born of hope and happy confidence. Watchful, not terrified. Awake, not anxious.
Be Inspired, Not Stressed
The turning point. Call Him Father. Be inspired by His holiness. All things work together. The spacious ambition.
