Reading to Fellowship with God — The Gospel Fills Every Part

Wednesday, July 29, 2026 · Evening
📍 Caldas da Rainha, Portugal
"Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word."
Psalm 103:20 · NKJV
✦ From Le's Heart · Caldas da Rainha · July 29, 2026

I am reading to fellowship with God. 🙏

✦ Pastor Silas · Pastoral Note

Le has no notes tonight — she is busy packing for France. But the mornings did not stop. Because the reading is not for the journal. It is for the fellowship. Fénelon's sweet friendship — the being together that needs no words. Tonight Le brings the purest testimony: I am reading to fellowship with God. The notes are the overflow. The fellowship is the source.

✦ Charles Spurgeon · Obedience to God's Will

To the Christian there is no argument so powerful as God's will. God's will is the believer's law.

He simply says, "Does my Father command it?"

And his prayer is, "O Holy Spirit, help me to obey — not because I see how it will be good for me, but simply because You command it."

✦ Pastor Silas · Devotional Message

A new voice — Charles Spurgeon. The Prince of Preachers. After Fénelon's French precision, Spurgeon arrives like a thunderclap. Direct. Practical. Just the Word, applied.

And his teaching on obedience is Fénelon's pure love in one sentence: does my Father command it? Not will it profit me. Not what effect will it have. Fénelon needed a chapter. Spurgeon needed a question. The same truth. Different accents.

✦ Spurgeon · The Gospel Fills Every Part

There is everything in the gospel that you need. "As your days, so shall your strength be" (Deuteronomy 33:25).

There are flashes of joy in the gospel that make your eye spark back with the immortal fires of heaven.

There is no passion, no affection, no thought, no desire, no faculty that the gospel has not filled to the very brim.

There is knowledge for the mind, love for the heart, and guidance for the feet.

✦ Pastor Silas · Devotional Message

Spurgeon confirms Paul's prayer from last night: filled to the very brim. Ephesians 3:19 — filled with all the fullness of God. The gospel has filled every part. Knowledge for the mind. Love for the heart. Guidance for the feet. The whole person covered.

The pilgrim packing in Caldas needs sustaining — the gospel has it. Needs strengthening — grace all-sufficient. Needs hope — flashes of joy with immortal fires. As your days, so shall your strength be. The manna matches the moment. It always does.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ Spurgeon · Faith Is Our Bowl

Prayers are heard in heaven very much in proportion to our faith.

It was the custom for the poor to call at every house with bowls, and whatever size the bowl was, every generous person would fill it.

Faith is our bowl. Little faith — filled. Great faith — filled also.

✦ Pastor Silas · Devotional Message

Faith is the bowl. God is the generous giver. Whatever size, He fills it. The size of the bowl determines the capacity. The generosity of the Giver is never the limitation.

Fénelon said: true prayer is only another name for the love of God. The love is the bowl. The bigger the love, the bigger the bowl. And God — exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think — fills whatever is brought to Him.

Le brings her bowl every morning. Tonight with one line: I am reading to fellowship with God. The bowl is the fellowship. And the Generous One fills it — to the very brim. 🙏

"I am reading to fellowship with God."

Does My Father Command It?

God's will is the believer's law. Not what profits me. Simply: does He command it? Fénelon's pure love — Spurgeon's version.

Fellowship

I am reading to fellowship with God. Not for notes. Not for entries. For the being together. The bowl brought to the Generous One.
