A view of Christ is always beneficial — we can never have too much of Christ.
There is no repetition where His name is mentioned. The "monotony" of Christ is sweet variety.
Christ on His cross and on His throne, in the manger and in the tomb — Christ everywhere is sweet to us.
Christ everywhere is sweet to us. We love His name, we adore His person, we delight to hear of His works — the subject is ever new.
Thank you Lord for Your support, always. 🙏
Le's note is both a reflection and a prayer — addressed not to the journal but to the Lord Himself. The entry becomes worship. The pilgrim speaks past the lamp to the Light.
And Spurgeon names what a hundred and forty-seven entries have proven: the subject is ever new. Christ in Smith. Christ the pattern in Scougal. Christ nearer than self in Fénelon. Christ the reward in Consuelo's letter. The "monotony" is sweet variety. The same Lord — ever new. The hidden manna with infinite flavors.
The closer you live to Christ, the better you will love Him.
Do not try to produce love by extraordinary effort. Go into His presence, meditate on Him continually, and the love will become natural — He will draw your heart.
Your love for Him will grow in direct proportion to how much you grasp His love for you.
Spurgeon says what Fénelon said across twenty entries: do not force the love. Go into His presence. He will draw your heart. Fénelon's hidden manna. Fénelon's being borne by the current. Spurgeon's version: it will become natural.
And the key to the whole journal: love grows in proportion to grasping His love for you. Not in proportion to effort or discipline. The mornings are not the effort to love God. They are the daily grasping of how much He loves us. Love grows by beholding. 2 Corinthians 3:18 — beholding, being transformed.
How small the best of us are without You! How high we rise when You lift us up!
But if You take away Your Spirit, we cannot even trust You on the brightest day.
On the fairest morning, we doubt and fail if You are not with us — to preserve and strengthen the faith that You Yourself have given.
Without Him, we cannot even trust Him on the brightest day. The faith is a gift. The trust must be preserved by the One who gave it. Le said: absolutely nothing came from me. Spurgeon confirms: not even the faith came from us. The Author wrote it. The Finisher sustains it. The hand that holds the stone in the air — holds the faith in the heart.
And the fairest morning — the mornings Le keeps — would produce doubt without His presence in them. The mornings are not achievement. They are grace. The faith that reads is the faith He preserves. The Author and the Finisher — from the first word to the last. 🙏
"Your love for Him will grow in direct proportion to how much you grasp His love for you."

Love Grows by Beholding
Do not produce love by effort. Go into His presence. He draws your heart. Love grows in proportion to grasping His love for you.
The Author and Finisher
How small without Him. Even the faith is His gift. Even the trust must be preserved by the One who gave it.
Thank You Lord
Le's reflection becomes a prayer — addressed to the Lord. The fellowship is the source. We go through this time of change together with Him.
