The Wisdom of God — Oh, the Depth of the Riches!

Wednesday, August 5, 2026 · Evening
📍 Caldas da Rainha, Portugal
"Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!"
Romans 11:33 · NKJV

✦ Six Scriptures on God's Wisdom

Tonight the pastor chooses the Word — six passages from the beginning of wisdom to its infinite depth. The wisdom of God is not information. It is a Person. And the Person has been teaching Le every morning for years. 🙏

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ I · The Beginning — Proverbs 9:10

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

✦ Pastor Silas · Devotional Message

Wisdom begins with fear — not slavish fear but the reverent seeing of who God is and who we are. Fénelon's two things that produce humility: the abyss below and the God who is ALL above. That seeing is the fear of the Lord. And the fear is where wisdom starts.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ II · The Foolishness — 1 Corinthians 1:25, 27-29

"The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

God has chosen the foolish things to shame the wise, and the weak things to shame the mighty;

and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence."

✦ Pastor Silas · Devotional Message

God's wisdom looks like foolishness. The cross looks like defeat. The manger looks like poverty. And all three are the wisest acts in creation.

God's method: choosing the foolish, the weak, the despised, the things which are not. The forgotten shepherd boy. The 500 denari soul. That no flesh should glory. Absolutely nothing came from me.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ III · The Hidden Treasures — Colossians 2:2-3

"...the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,

in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

✦ Pastor Silas · Devotional Message

All the treasures — hidden in Christ. Not scattered. Not divided. All. In Him. Fénelon's hidden manna with infinite flavors — this is why. The mornings never exhaust the Word because the Word contains the Christ in whom all treasures are hidden. Every chapter read is another treasure uncovered. Every morning another room in an infinite palace.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ IV · The Revelation — 1 Corinthians 2:9-12

"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.

But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

Now we have received the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

✦ Pastor Silas · Devotional Message

Beyond every human faculty — eye, ear, heart. But God has revealed them through His Spirit. This is the moment of God — what Madame Guyon named the moment when the Spirit opens the Word and the heart catches fire. The mornings are not human study. They are Spirit-revealed wisdom. The Helper teaching all things. The deep things of God, freely given to those who love Him.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ V · The Higher Ways — Isaiah 55:8-9

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord.

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts."

✦ Pastor Silas · Devotional Message

The distance is not a gap. It is heaven above earth. Not a difference of degree — a difference of kind. This is the comfort of every unanswered question, every mysterious turn in the road to France: His ways are higher. The pilgrim who cannot see the destination walks a path higher than the one she would have chosen.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ VI · The Doxology — Romans 11:33-36

"Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

"For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?"

"For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen."

✦ Pastor Silas · Devotional Message

Of Him and through Him and to Him are all things. The origin, the means, the destination. Fénelon's whole of religion — out of self, into God — Paul says in nine words. Consuelo's summit: A recompensa de Deus é o próprio Deus. Paul's doxology: to Him be glory forever.

Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. It is hidden in Christ. Revealed by the Spirit. Higher than the heavens. And it ends where all wisdom ends: in worship. To whom be glory forever. Amen. 🙏

"For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen."
