No Condemnation — It's Real, It's Personal, It's True

Friday, September 4, 2026 · Evening
📍 Grand-Champ, Brittany, France · Rue des Oiseaux
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."
Romans 8:1 · NKJV
"Il n'y a donc maintenant aucune condamnation pour ceux qui sont en Jésus-Christ."
Romains 8:1 · Louis Segond
✦ From Le's Heart · Grand-Champ, Brittany · September 4, 2026

I skipped chapter 7 because we Christians are very familiar with our struggle with sin. We find comfort in chapter 8. It's like breathing fresh air.

No condemnation to me is free access to God, fellowship with the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ as the Lord of my life.

What a blessed assurance to know in our hearts that God hears our prayers and answers them.

The blessed assurance that we have a personal relationship with God. It's real. It's personal. It's true. 🙏

✦ Pastor Silas · Pastoral Note

The second evening in Grand-Champ. Rue des Oiseaux. And Le opens Romans 8 — the greatest chapter in the Bible.

She skipped chapter 7 — the struggle with sin — and landed on the answer. Chapter 7 is familiar. Chapter 8 is fresh air.

Le defined "no condemnation" as experience: free access to God — prosagōgē from Romans 5:2. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit — the love poured out from 5:5. Jesus Christ as Lord — personal lordship. God hears and answers — dialogue, not monologue.

And three words holding the entire journal: Real. Personal. True.

Two hymns in two days — Trust and Obey yesterday. Blessed Assurance today. The hymns keep rising from the heart of the pilgrim in Brittany.

✦ Romans 8:1 · The Verdict

"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."

"Il n'y a donc maintenant aucune condamnation pour ceux qui sont en Jésus-Christ."

Romains 8:1 · Louis Segond
✦ Pastor Silas · Study Notes

Every word carries the weight of the letter:

"Therefore." Donc. Everything from chapters 1-7 pours into this.

"Now." Maintenant. Not someday. Now. In Grand-Champ. Today.

"No." Aucune. None. Zero. No condemnation. Absolute.

"Condemnation." Katakrima — the judge's sentence. It fell on the cross. None left for you.

"In Christ Jesus." The position. Not performance. In Christ.

Romans 5:1: peace. Romans 8:1: no condemnation. Peace is the experience. No condemnation is the verdict. The courtroom closed. The first breath outside — fresh air.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ Romans 8:2 · The Spirit of Life

"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death."

"En effet, la loi de l'esprit de vie en Jésus-Christ m'a affranchi de la loi du péché et de la mort."

Romains 8:2 · Louis Segond
✦ Pastor Silas · Study Notes

Two laws. Two systems:

The law of sin and death — break the rule, pay the price.

The law of the Spirit of life — believe, live, be free.

"Made me free." M'a affranchi. Not willpower. The Spirit. A higher law overrides a lower — like aerodynamics overriding gravity. The plane doesn't destroy gravity. It rises above it. The Spirit doesn't destroy sin. It lifts the believer above its power.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ Romans 8:3-4 · What the Law Could Not Do — God Did

"For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk according to the Spirit."

"Car chose impossible à la loi, parce que la chair la rendait sans force, Dieu a condamné le péché dans la chair, en envoyant, à cause du péché, son propre Fils dans une chair semblable à celle du péché, et cela afin que la justice de la loi fût accomplie en nous, qui marchons, non selon la chair, mais selon l'esprit."

Romains 8:3-4 · Louis Segond
✦ Pastor Silas · Study Notes

"What the law could not do — God did." The law tried. The law demanded. The law couldn't save. The flesh was too weak.

So God sent His Son. He condemned sin — not the sinner. The sin got the condemnation. The sinner got the freedom. Romans 8:1 is possible because condemnation fell on sin itself, on the cross.

"Fulfilled in us." Accomplie en nous. Not BY us — IN us. Christ's work in us. "Who walk according to the Spirit." Le's mornings. The devotionals. The Romans study. Walking according to the Spirit. The direction matters more than the stumbles.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ Romans 8:5-8 · Life and Peace

"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God."

Romains 8:5-8 · Louis Segond
✦ Pastor Silas · Study Notes

Carnally minded → death. Spiritually minded → life and peace.

"Life and peace." La vie et la paix. Romans 1:17: the just shall LIVE. Romans 5:1: we have PEACE. Romans 8:6 unites them. Together. In the spiritually minded.

Le's mornings — spiritually minded. The journal — spiritually minded. Trust and obey — spiritually minded. You will guide us — spiritually minded. Life and peace.

The carnal mind — enmity. Inimitié. Not distance. War. And it cannot please God. This is why God had to act. The flesh cannot. The Spirit can. The law couldn't. God did.

Le breathes the fresh air of Romans 8 and names what it tastes like: free access. Fellowship. Lordship. Answered prayer. Real. Personal. True. 🙏

"The blessed assurance that we have a personal relationship with God. It's real. It's personal. It's true."
