Consider Christ Jesus Apostle and High Priest

Thursday, September 10, 2026 · Afternoon
📍 Lion-sur-Mer, Normandy, France
"Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus."

« C'est pourquoi, frères saints, qui avez part à la vocation céleste, considérez l'apôtre et le souverain sacrificateur de la foi que nous professons, Jésus. »

Hebrews 3:1 · NKJV / Hébreux 3:1 · Louis Segond

✦ Consider

The word consider means more than think about. It means fix your attention on. Gaze at. Guyon's bee resting on the flower. And Christ is named with two titles: Apostle — the one sent from God to us. High Priest — the one who represents us before God. Both directions in one Person. The complete bridge. Sent from God, standing for man.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ Hebrews 3:3–4 · The Builder and the House

"For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God."

« Car il a été jugé digne d'une gloire supérieure à celle de Moïse, dans la mesure où celui qui a construit une maison a plus d'honneur que la maison même. Car toute maison est construite par quelqu'un, mais celui qui a construit toutes choses, c'est Dieu. »

Hébreux 3:3–4 · Louis Segond

✦ Builder, Not Servant

Moses was faithful inside the house. Christ built the house. The builder has more honor than what is built. And the house is not just Israel — it is all things. The Son through whom God made the worlds (Hebrews 1:2) is the builder. The same hand that upholds all things also built the house in which Moses served.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ Hebrews 3:5–6 · Servant and Son

"Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end."

« Pour Moïse, il a été fidèle dans toute la maison de Dieu, comme serviteur, pour rendre témoignage de ce qui devait être annoncé; mais Christ l'est comme Fils sur sa maison; et sa maison, c'est nous, pourvu que nous retenions jusqu'à la fin la ferme confiance et l'espérance dont nous nous glorifions. »

Hébreux 3:5–6 · Louis Segond

"Moses as a servant in the house. Christ as a Son over His own house. Whose house we are."

— Hebrews 3:5–6 · The servant pointed forward. The Son stands over. The house is the people.

✦ Servant and Son

Moses — faithful as a servant in the house. An honored attendant. His entire ministry pointed forward — the law, the tabernacle, the sacrifices — fragments before the fullness.

Christ — faithful as a Son over His own house. Not in. Over. Not servant. Son. Not someone else's house. His own.

Whose house we are — the house is the people. And the condition: if we hold fast. Bernard's virtue — seek eagerly and lay fast hold. The holding is not earning the position. It is demonstrating the reality.

✦ ✦ ✦
✦ Hebrews 3:7–15 · Today, If You Hear His Voice

"Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion. Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called 'Today.' For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end."

« Aujourd'hui, si vous entendez sa voix, n'endurcissez pas vos cœurs. Prenez garde, frères, que quelqu'un de vous n'ait un cœur mauvais et incrédule, au point de se détourner du Dieu vivant. Mais exhortez-vous les uns les autres chaque jour, aussi longtemps qu'on peut dire : Aujourd'hui ! Car nous sommes devenus participants de Christ, pourvu que nous retenions fermement jusqu'à la fin l'assurance que nous avions au commencement. »

Hébreux 3:7–15 · Louis Segond

✦ One Arc, One Argument

The chapter builds one argument: consider Christ (v.1), who is greater than Moses (v.3), over His own house (v.6), whose house you are if you hold fast (v.6) — so do not depart from the living God (v.12) — because today is the day to hear (v.15). From the considering to the holding to the warning. One arc. One argument. One morning.

🔭

Consider

Fix your attention. Gaze. The Apostle sent from God. The High Priest standing for man. Both directions in one Person. The complete bridge.

🏘️

Builder and House

Moses served in the house. Christ built it. The builder has more honor. The servant pointed forward. The Son stands over His own house.

🤝

Hold Fast

Whose house we are — if we hold fast. Confidence, rejoicing, firm to the end. Not earning the position but demonstrating the reality.

"For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end."

« Car nous sommes devenus participants de Christ, pourvu que nous retenions fermement jusqu'à la fin l'assurance que nous avions au commencement. »

Hebrews 3:14 · NKJV / Hébreux 3:14 · Louis Segond · Consider Christ · Builder and house · Hold fast to the end
