A great reminder to walk in love, and avoid the evil of unbelief. 🙏
The Benimar in Scrignac — inland Finistère, the Monts d'Arrée country. And Le arrives at the answer Paul promised two nights ago. 1 Corinthians 12:31: yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. Here it is.
And Le's one line joins two verses the King James knows well:
"Walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us" — Ephesians 5:2.
"An evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God" — Hebrews 3:12.
And chapter 13 binds them together: love believeth all things, hopeth all things. Love and unbelief cannot live in the same heart. Faith, hope, and love abide together — take away the faith, and the love goes cold.
Hebrews names the danger precisely: unbelief is departing — a walking away. So walking in love is the very opposite motion. One steps away from the living God. The other walks with Him.
"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing."
"Quand je parlerais les langues des hommes et des anges, si je n'ai pas la charité, je suis un airain qui résonne, ou une cymbale qui retentit. Et quand j'aurais le don de prophétie, la science de tous les mystères et toute la connaissance, quand j'aurais même toute la foi jusqu'à transporter des montagnes, si je n'ai pas la charité, je ne suis rien."
1 Corinthiens 13:1-2 · Louis Segond"I am nothing." Je ne suis rien. Outhen eimi. Not a lesser something. Nothing.
All mysteries. All knowledge. Without love — zero. The whole Corinthian argument of the last four chapters — wisdom, knowledge, eloquence, gifts — collapses into this one verse.
Le has been saying it all week: I am not a scholar. My goal is fellowship with God. Tonight Paul ranks them. Knowledge without love is a clanging cymbal. Love without a single credential is the more excellent way.
"Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things."
"La charité est patiente, elle est pleine de bonté; la charité n'est point envieuse; la charité ne se vante point, elle ne s'enfle point d'orgueil, elle ne fait rien de malhonnête, elle ne cherche point son intérêt, elle ne s'irrite point, elle ne soupçonne point le mal, elle ne se réjouit point de l'injustice, mais elle se réjouit de la vérité; elle excuse tout, elle croit tout, elle espère tout, elle supporte tout."
1 Corinthiens 13:4-7 · Louis Segond"And is kind." Elle est pleine de bonté. Chrēsteuetai — the same root as Romans 2:4, three weeks ago in Jarnac: the goodness — chrēstotēs — of God leadeth thee to repentance. The kindness that turned us is the kindness love now shows. What God did to us, love does to others.
"Is not puffed up." Elle ne s'enfle point d'orgueil. Physioutai — the word Paul used against the Corinthians in chapter 4: some are puffed up. Love is the cure for the swelling.
"Believeth all things, hopeth all things." Elle croit tout, elle espère tout. Here is Le's insight inside the text itself. Love believes. Love and unbelief are opposites. To walk in love is already to walk away from the evil heart of unbelief.
"Endureth all things." Elle supporte tout. Hypomenei — hypomonē again. The patience of Romans 5, Romans 8, Romans 12, Romans 15, James 1. Love is what endures.
"Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away... For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."
"La charité ne périt jamais. Les prophéties prendront fin, les langues cesseront, la connaissance disparaîtra... Aujourd'hui nous voyons au moyen d'un miroir, d'une manière obscure, mais alors nous verrons face à face; aujourd'hui je connais en partie, mais alors je connaîtrai comme j'ai été connu."
1 Corinthiens 13:8, 12 · Louis Segond"Charity never faileth." La charité ne périt jamais. Oudepote piptei — never falls. Prophecies end. Tongues cease. Knowledge vanishes. Love is the only thing on the list still standing at the end.
"Through a glass, darkly." D'une manière obscure. En ainigmati — in a riddle. The ancient mirror was polished bronze: you could see, but never clearly. That is all knowledge now. Then — face to face.
"Then shall I know even as also I am known." Je connaîtrai comme j'ai été connu. Le — last night's song. Então conheceste a minha vereda — then You knew my path. We are already fully known. The knowing is not waiting to be completed on His side. It is complete. One day our knowing catches up to His.
"And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity."
"Maintenant donc ces trois choses demeurent: la foi, l'espérance, la charité; mais la plus grande de ces choses, c'est la charité."
1 Corinthiens 13:13 · Louis SegondFaith, hope, love — the same three as Romans 5:1-5, in the same order: justified by faith... rejoice in hope... the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts.
They abide together. That is why Le's line holds: to let unbelief in is to loosen all three. To walk in love is to keep all three standing.
"The greatest of these is charity." La plus grande, c'est la charité. On September 2, Le said it before Paul did: the greatest gift is His presence. God is love. The greatest of these is not a virtue we manufacture. It is Himself, poured out, and walking with us. 🙏
"A great reminder to walk in love, and avoid the evil of unbelief."
Le · Scrignac, Finistère · September 22, 2026 · The more excellent way — love believeth all things, never faileth, and abidesWalk in Love
Ephesians 5:2. Unbelief is departing — a walking away. Walking in love is the opposite motion: walking with Him.
Without Love, Nothing
All mysteries, all knowledge — without love, a clanging cymbal. Paul ranks them. Love needs no credential.
Love Believeth
Believeth all things, hopeth all things. Love and unbelief cannot share a heart. Faith, hope and love abide together.
Known As I Am Known
Now a riddle in a bronze mirror. Then face to face. The knowing is already complete on His side.
